Climate and Geography
Guyana has many interesting things to look at. Guyana is very hot, humid, and tropical. One physical feature about Guyana is that it is located next to the equator which means that it is very hot and humid. Guyana has many water falls in it like Kaieteur falls which is 741 feet tall. In Guyana there are strong tropical winds that can lead to hurricanes. There is also a lot of rainfall, mostly in the rain forest. There are three main regions in Guyana: the coast, dense rain forest, and the grasslands. In Guyana there is something called the sand hills that contain rain forests, plateaus , flat topped mountains, and savannas. The sand hills are located south of the coastal plain. Most of the people who live in Guyana live on the coast, because most of the other part of Guyana is dense rain forests. Guyana also has many rice and sugar farms so most people work on the coast or on the farms. The climate has influenced the way people have dressed because since it is hot they will not where warm clothing, but they will where short sleeves and shorts. Some main sports in Guyana are cricket, basketball, volleyball and soccer. Guyana is a great place to visit and to have fun in.

In Guyana the food is a blend of Carribean, Indian, and African foods. They eat spicy food like dal and curries. A typical meal would be dal puri, which has mashed up chickpeas rolled up into a pita. Some more traditional things people in Guyana would eat are boiled or fried cassava (which is a type of melon) or plantain (which is like a banana). In Guyana the main activity is agriculture, so they have rice farms and sugar farms. Since a lot of people live on the coast, their job is to fish. This is where they get most of their food resources, from the ocean or their farms. Some people in Guyana have food stands outside schools, so school children get lunch at the stands. In Guyana different foods get served for different things, such as the weddings and at celebrations. At African festivals they serve creole foods. At Hindu weddings they serve vegetarian curries. The Amerindians use a sauce called cassareep which is made up of salt, pepper, and cassava juice. A custom in the rural areas in Guyana is that they start off their day with a meal that is called tea which is a light meal that has bread and margarine in it.

Architecture/Buildings
In Guyana Most houses are made on stilts to be protected by floods. In Guyana the main resource that is made to make a house is wood. Another resource that is now evolving to make houses is concrete. In Guyana it is very hot so when the houses are built, they leave a few feet from the walls to the ceiling so air can breeze through. There are not that many rooms in a typical house in Guyana, so a few people sleep in each bed. Since the houses are made on stilts, some people dry their laundry, or store things under their houses. Since most of the people who live in Guyana are Christian or Hindu, most buildings that are used for religious purposes are churches or temples. A famous building in Guyana is the St. Georges Cathedral, which is the tallest wooden building in the world. A monument in Guyana is the Cuffy, which features the nations heroes. The Umana Yana is a Wai-Wai, which means meeting place of the people. The Wai-Wai Indians made it in 1972. Guyana has many cool physical features in it.
